Origin
Liriope and Ophiopogon have their origin in several parts of Asia. It’s a grass looking crop with flowers like the well knowned Muscari. These species are reasonable hardy in the garden..
The crop
The violet/white bell shaped flowers, are beautiful in the garden as from August/September and will stay nice till late Autumn. Preferable place in the garden is sun – half-shade. Plants require a well drained soil and specially the first years in the garden a fair bit of fertilization.
Applications
Liriope and Ophiopogon are characterized by a plurality of applications. These evergreen plants are of good use for (larger) landscape jobs (for example a roundabout). Another application could be as a patio plant, specially because of it’s beautiful Autumn flowers.
Throughout the years we’ve developed a wide range of Liriope and Ophiopogon. This assortment we offer will be supplied as rooted cuttings or as bare root plants. So for every production we could offer the best start. Bare roots are mostly supplied between week 18 and 28 and rooted cuttings we could offer year round.

Light: sun / half-shade
Growing medium: Liriope and Ophiopogon requires a well drained soil. They need a fair bit of fertilization.
Outside: These species are reasonable hardy, it’s depending per variety. In general you could say the green forms are more hardy as the variegated ones.
Flowering: Is een goede najaarsbloeier, bloeit elk jaar en aantal bloemen wordt meer naar gelang het ouder worden
Fertilization: Liriope and Ophiopogon requires specially on the start of the growing season a good fertilization. After several years in the garden this could be reduced.
Pruning: With showing the first shoots in the Spring you could take of the old leaves. As these are evergreen species you could choose to keep the healthy leaves and only take away the brown leaves. In case you prune them, it’s the best on a height of 10cm above the ground.
Winter: Plants in pot it's the best to bring inside. In the garden it’s good to cover them when heavy frost is expected.
